1. Curricular Aspects
Astha School of Management implements the curriculum provided by Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) that offers a choice based credit system. The institute follows Outcome Based Education (OBE) and has well-developed Course Outcomes, Programme Objectives, and Programme Specific Objectives that are mapped and reported.
A well-designed curriculum delivery process which is properly documented is also in place. The Academic Calendar of BPUT and events calendar of the institute as well as the institution time table ensures effective delivery of the curriculum. Lesson plans are prepared by individual faculty members following Bloom’s Taxonomy.
Capability enhancement under Competency Incubator & Assessment Centre (CIAC), Value Added Courses and other co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are also conducted as per the calendar. To impart the curriculum novel teaching methods such as experiential learning through simulation, Participative learning through peer work and problem solving methods through case analysis are administered for effective learning. ICT platform enhances the teaching learning experience.

The curriculum includes relevant issues on Environment and Professional Ethics (18 MBA 109 Business Environment & Ethics), such as Cause, Effect and Control measures of Pollution; Managing Natural and Manmade Disasters, Contemporary social issues and Business Ethics. Also cases on business ethics are discussed as part of the classroom deliberations.
Addressing Human Values: A compulsory Value Added Course on Personal Values and Universal Human Values, called Personal Effectiveness Programme (VAC 02), is offered in the first year of MBA.
Addressing Gender Issues: Through various events and activities, issues related to gender and social stigma are addressed. International Women’s day is celebrated every year during which symposium, debate, poster making and movie shows are conducted.
Environment & Sustainability: Astha School of Management organizes “Fun with Purpose” a Student-driven initiative where students perform street plays or Nukkad-Nataks in local language to sensitize the rural and the semi-urban population about environmental and social issues.
Also under Social and Environmental Awareness (SEA) programme students plan activities like seminars, quiz contests, learning through games for students of local schools and colleges. Regular workshops on disaster management are conducted by external experts from ODRF.
